Herbal Steams

For breathing relief

I use these herbal steams with my children & myself. I do not claim to be a medical doctor and only am sharing my personal opinion.

Attached are a few affiliate links, I make a very small percentage off the purchase, and you do not pay anything more. Cheers!

Why are herbs so needed?

Herbs heal everything. All current medicines are lab creations from natural constituents. They are creating unnatural combinations and sequences in labs these days, so always do your own research…

Did you know?

I was once told that the plant world decided to become medicine for humans, when the humans decided to consume animals. What are your thoughts about that?

Anyway…

One of my favorite ways to use herbs is externally. And we finally make it to the headline above, Herbal Steams.

Having trouble breathing is so unpleasant. We’ve all been there before. But NOW you know about herbal steams. You cannot do better until you know better, now you know better :)

Making a Herbal Steam

  1. Grab some fresh herbs (can use dried, but not as effective)

Sage

Rosemary

Oregano

Thyme

Eucalyptus

  1. Add a good handful of a combination of the herbs above to a large bowl
  1. Boil a full kettle or large pot of water
  1. Add boiling water to the bowl full of herbs
  1. Breathe in the steam
  2. Obviously – USE Caution with boiling water.
  3. I will usually use a towel to cover my face and the bowl. Then I breathe in the steam. The heat opens up breathing as well. Be careful not to burn yourself or overheat.
  4. I will also just put a bowl next to a sick kids bed after they fall sleep. Remember it’s boiling water.
  5. I heard a story of a mama nursing her baby under her kitchen table that was covered with a thick blanket. The herbal steam was placed under table and the baby was able to breathe in the steam while nursing with an open airway.
  1. Repeat when needed. I would get to crazy – maybe 3-4 times a day. This should be used as short term relief for congestion when sick.

Essential Oils

I love diffusing oils, and add them to my herbal steam often. Using essential oils is serious business. Make sure to do your research on oils and their uses & limitations...

Herbal Steams

We are currently making steams daily in my home. My youngest has a cough, with the weather change and him being outside playing in the cold, the warming nature of herbal steams and warm drinks keep his chest more calm. When a child is going through a sickness, rest is important. The problem is a 3 year old, well my 3 year old, does not rest. He just plays a bit slower, and I make him wear more clothes outside. I love steams! I love going to my garden and collecting the herbs and making them into relief for my family. My husband now makes steams as well. Cheers!
